Buy this book and delve deep into the images to analysis the brushwork, the depth of the colours, the wizardry of the artist himself.
And enjoy the West Country as he sees it with all its' charm.
The Master Macey has a talent which needs no pickled sheep or unmade beds - hoorah for that!  5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous

Following the brief yet affectionate introduction by Vivien Minton is an interesting and revealing conversation with the artist. Through the course of the conversation Macey talks about his education, his approach to his work, those who influenced him (David Hockney, Brett Whiteley and Roger Hilton) and his plans for the future (200 paintings of London). The conversation is illustrated with pictures of the artist at work along with some of his paintings. The remainder of the book, Pages 20 to 144, is given over entirely to the paintings along with a few drawings, entirely in full colour (excluding the drawings), at times accompanied by a brief comment from the artist. The paintings, mostly one to a page but occasionally more, are reproduced to a good size, sometimes almost life size; they are presented thoughtfully and in keeping; there are well over 150 illustrations contained in the book.

This is a fabulous book, what an art book should be with the pictures shown as large as one could reasonably expect. The same epithet can be applied to the work, Macey's paintings are vibrant, bold and free, it is plain to see Hockney's influence, and I was pleased to see a good number of examples of his yacht depictions along with the many Cornish harbour views. This is a first rate book about an exciting artist.
